about

With its message of finding meaning through music, ‘How I Feel’ distils the essence of Brazil-born, Berlin-based Joyce Muniz’s second album, ‘Zeitkapsel’, which it’s taken from.

A self-released musical odyssey, ‘Zeitkapsel’ explores and celebrates the various aspects and sounds of her career. Moving first to Vienna from her native São Paulo, then later Berlin, she became a DJ, then a vocalist and MC, and finally a producer in her own right, her tracks gracing labels such as Permanent Vacation, Pets, Exploited, International DJ Gigolo and 20:20 Vision.

The fourth single off the album, ‘How I Feel’ is fronted by the distinctive voice of Play Paul. One of the pioneers of French Touch, the producer and singer was half of Buffalo Bunch, as well as part of supergroup Crydajam, which included his brother, Daft Punk’s Guy-Man.

Having connected when he remixed Muniz’s 2018 track ‘Toxic People’, on ‘How I Feel’ his smooth, almost AOR vocals float over a deep house groove, its bass-driven melody adding punchy emphasis to the song’s life-affirming words. It’s a single that underlines not just the purpose Muniz has found through her life’s work, but also a pop sensibility that resonates far beyond just the dancefloor.
